Most New Zealanders will have, by now, heard about the "scandals" surrounding MP David Benson-Pope. Seemingly he put tennis balls into the mouths of naughty boys and walked in on girls in the shower at school camp. As I went to Bayfield High School while he was a teacher I am being bombarded by requests for information and any further scandal. Investigate magazine emailed me, TVNZ also emailed me today. Some of my friends have also been contacted. A guy I work with was in the year above me at school and the New Zealand Herald telephoned him for gossip.

The thing is, there is none really. OK he may have shouted at us to hurry up getting dressed while we were on camp but that was because we were all dithering - no doubt reluctant to go walking or do our early morning run. He stood in the doorway and bellowed. He certainly did not go into the showers, though I did only have one while I was there - too cold. (Smelly).

He was strict certainly, I found him quite fearsome but the whole thing has been thoroughly blown all out of proportion. It is like a witch hunt and surely the politicians have got better things to worry about than what somebody did 10-20 years ago in a previous job. There are people dying and if they cared enough for the living, they'd make a better place, for the human race (and heal the world), instead of wasting time and resources on scandals.

It's funny, when you place your details up on Friends Reunited you don't expect to get called up to help with stories. I was even emailed by Channel 4 in England to see if I had any stories about Pete Doherty, the loser that Kate Moss was dating, because I was born in Nuneaton, where he grew up, and lived there for 6 years. Goodness.
